Hope International University's College of Arts & Sciences proudly announces the addition of a Kinesiology degree program to its Traditional Undergraduate studies, launching this Fall. HIU's Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology provides preparation for students pursuing careers in athletic training, coaching, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy education.

"We are pleased to be able to offer this new major to our students who want to work in human performance, health and wellness areas. We will be outfitting a new Kinesiology lab this summer for the program’s first cohort. I especially want to commend Dr. Steve Edgington for putting together a truly excellent teaching team to lead us in this vital new major," states Dr. Paul Alexander, HIU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Students enrolled in the Kinesiology program will gain an understanding of the structural, functional, and psychological foundations of human movement. Kinesiology majors will learn to demonstrate the ability to accurately assess the need for intervention to improve health and human physical performance and be able to present an evidence-based argument for the importance of physical activity in promoting optimal health. Students will design and implement strategies to advance health and human performance among various populations. By the end of the Kinesiology program, students will demonstrate an understanding of human movement, health, and performance in the contexts of family, workplace, community, and society.
