Biology, B.S. to Pharmacy, Pharm.D. Accelerated Program
The B.S. in Biology to Pharm.D. Accelerated Program at Â鶹´«Ã½ allows students working toward a Bachelor of Science in Biology to apply for admission into the first professional (P1) year of the Pharm.D. after three years of undergraduate study in the biology program. The Pharm.D. is offered through the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis. Courses taken in the P1 year are eligible for reverse transfer to Â鶹´«Ã½ and can fulfill requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Ìýprovides a challenging learning environment where pharmacy students can explore a variety of practice settings, develop medication expertise and become leaders in the profession and their communities. The curriculum focuses on preparing students to provide interprofessional, evidence-based, patient-centered care in any practice setting, achieving positive drug therapy outcomes for patients.
For additional information, see the catalog entries for the following SLU programs:
Students should declare their interest in the accelerated B.S. to Pharm.D. program to their program as soon as possible during their SLU bachelor's to receive the proper advising, after completing 15 credits at SLU but prior to achieving 45 total credits.
Students must complete the UHSP application by December 1st of the year prior to their anticipated start of the Pharm.D. UHSP will notify students by February 1st of the admission decision.
Students are recommended to have a minimum of a 2.70 cumulative grade point average (GPA) to apply. Transfer students will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must meet eligibility requirements.
The following are considerations in the admission decision:
-
Students should have no grades below a C- in prerequisite courses to the Pharm.D. andÌýmaintainÌýa cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher and a core math and science grade point average of 2.7 or higher;Ìý
-
Students must successfully complete all designated prerequisite courses at SLU, listed below,Ìýor at a regionally accredited college or university,Ìýin order toÌýbe accepted to the Pharm.D. program; andÌý
-
Students must successfully complete an interview and writing assessment.ÌýÌý
-
As admission requirements can change over time, SLU students should consult UHSP’s website () for the admission requirements that are in place at the time of application and admission.Ìý
