Bailey McCulloch
For Bailey McCulloch, proficiency in German language and culture goes hand-in-hand with her field of graduate study: art history.
I graduated from Â鶹´«Ã½ in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a minor in German studies.
For me, the best part of being in the German program at SLU was the group of people that I got to share that experience with. I made friends that I otherwise never would have known, and the professors were always supportive. Over my four years of taking German at SLU, I went from being a very nervous speaker to feeling confident in my skills.
I would recommend taking German at SLU because you not only learn the language, you also learn about German history, art, literature, and culture along the way.
Currently, I am getting my Master of Arts in Art History at the University of Kansas. I am a graduate teaching assistant.
To enter my M.A. program, I had to pass a foreign language exam, so my German minor provided me with the skills to easily pass the exam. In the field of art history, German is a very important language to know for research purposes.
