Research Interests

My scholarly research agenda considers the ways in which racial stratification has shaped housing and health in urban contexts over time. Although I am open to all methodological approaches, I am primarily a social demographer. Hence, in my current research I rely on statistical methods to analyze large quantitative datasets with the goal of producing findings that can inform both scholarly and policy debates surrounding inequities in housing and health. The central question that drives my current research is: How is space used as a mechanism of inequality? I have three projects that address this question by measuring different aspects of spatial inequality.
