SLU Theatre and Dance
Â鶹´«Ã½'s theatre program collaborates as a theatrical company, fostering commitment to the group while strengthening your performance, design, direction and management abilities. SLU's dance minor investigates the expressive potential of dance as its own art form in other fields or personal practice.
Our program specializes in all aspects of production, from set design and lighting to costume design and acting itself.
Theatre and Dance Mission
Â鶹´«Ã½ Theatre and Dance Productions and Dance Program provides a comprehensive liberal arts undergraduate education emphasizing the complementary relationship between academic study, artistic practice and professional experience. Through our broad-based curriculum, hands-on productions, and professional partnerships, we play a vital role in the cultural and intellectual life of the SLU Community and the wider theatre and dance fields.

Theatre Scholarships
Theatre students at SLU may apply for a Theatre Talent Scholarship. In addition to completing the , interested students may be requested to audition, present a portfolio or interview for the award.
Scholarships are awarded annually, so you must reapply each year. You must also maintain the following requirements to keep your scholarship:
- Major in theatre
- Achieve a grade of "B" in all theatre coursework
- Participate in all department productions
If you cannot audition/interview on campus, you may submit a digital audition via Acceptd.
If you have auditioned or interviewed at a state or international thespian conference, you do not need to re-audition or interview but still must complete the .
Theatre and Dance Performance Experience
Each year, the theatre and dance program produces a season of plays, with students forming the company of actors, designers and technicians responsible for all aspects of the production.
Mentored and advised by faculty, you will work with other students to clearly and appropriately present your imaginative ideas to others and explore your creativity. Most importantly, you will develop a collective responsibility and commitment to your work.

Our faculty connections help many SLU students find auditions among the 30 professional theaters around St. Louis. By branching into these communities, our theatre students enhance their education by encountering new perspectives and roles. You will also develop valuable experience to enhance your resume through internships and working with professional companies.
Alpha Psi Omega
SLU's chapter of the National Theatre Honor Society, Alpha Psi Omega, offers a way to get involved in theatre outside the classroom. Members of Alpha Psi Omega are actively involved on campus through a variety of activities, including:
- Attending professional productions
- Producing works written, directed and performed by students
- Engaging in service with the St. Louis community
