Posted: March 12, 2014

Playing to a packed theater, the cast of Shrek the Musical brought the hilarious and heartwarming story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on the Hope International University stage. The musical, which ran March 13 – 22, was a smash hit with adults and children and has become one of HIU’s most popular productions to date.

HIU’s production featured Steve Sandy (’15) as Shrek, Merrilee Sandy as Fiona, Christian Bass (BA ’14) as Donkey and Christian Koshay (BA ’13) as Lord Farquaad. The cast performed four evening shows, including the VIP-only closing night. The sold out event began with a dessert reception for HIU’s alumni and friends and ended with the almost 600 guests filling the Pacific Auditorium to capacity to take in the fantastic final performance of Shrek the Musical. For the ninth consecutive year, HIU also hosted two special matinee performances for local elementary, junior high, and high school students, which included a meet and greet with the cast.
