Michael Mulryan was appointed Vice President for Institutional Advancement in February 2010. He previously served as Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations at HIU for 3 years. His exceptional leadership benefited the University in numerous tangible ways, including an all-time high in alumni giving and an increase of 91% in unrestricted giving. HIU alumni giving ranks among the top schools in California, showing an increase of 600% in four years.

Mr. Mulryan has been heavily involved in the areas of development and fundraising for higher education in Southern California since 1999 in both public and private schools, including CSU Long Beach, Cal Baptist University, Concordia University and Hope International University. His extensive experience in developing and cultivating major gifts programs, annual fund programs, special events, capital campaigns, and special fundraising programs combined with his excellent donor and community relations history has enabled him to make significant strides forward for HIU.

Prior to his position as VP for Institutional Advancement, Mr. Mulryan held other top development positions: Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations; Director of Special Gifts; Director of Donor Relations; Director of Development-Executive Director 49er Athletic Association; Assistant Athletic Director-Development; Assistant Athletic Director-External Relations; and Associate Athletic Director-External Relations. Michael was also selected to organize and facilitate numerous California State University Advancement and Big West Conference Development and Marketing seminars and meetings.

In addition to his career in higher education, Mr. Mulryan was a successful private business owner for seven years, and held executive management and director positions in the retail industry for over a decade.

Mr. Mulryan is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach. He is a member of the CSULB Alumni Association, Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD), and the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Directors.
