School of Education Celebrates 100 Years of Educating Educators
09/17/2024
Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s School of Education is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year!
In 1925, the School of Education proudly opened its doors, and has educated thousands of teachers and school leaders rooted in excellence, integrity and respect for every person. Grounded in our Catholic, Jesuit tradition, the school continues to vigorously pursue its mission of outreach to support the community broadly, with a focus on those historically underserved.
Throughout the coming year, the School of Education will host events, lectures and activities to honor our legacy, celebrate our achievements and envision the future of our school. often as we will update it throughout the year.
Our centennial year got off to a terrific start this month with the announcement of a historic donation to the School of Education from Â鶹´«Ã½ alumna Virginia (Ginny) Herrmann. Thanks to this gift, the largest our School of Education has ever received from a donor, the SOE has established the Herrmann Center for Innovative Catholic Education. This new center embodies our commitment to advancing Catholic education by designing and delivering academic and professional development for Catholic school educators and leaders, advancing the research on Catholic educational institutions, and engaging in active work on the critical issues facing Catholic schools.
