Research Interests

Weinberger’s scholarly work has focused on the area of corporate law.

Publications and Media Placements

Weinberger has published surveys of corporate compliance programs, including the first empirical study of the effectiveness of public company policies to prevent insider trading and violations of the federal securities laws.

He has written on the erosion of the doctrine of caveat emptor and the origins of the presumption against mortgage prepayment. Weinberger has also published articles in the areas of partnership law and fiduciary duty. Along with SLU LAW professors emeriti Peter Salsich and Sandra Johnson, Weinberger co-authored Property Law, Cases, Materials and Problems, 3d (American Casebook Series®).

Honors and Awards

Since joining SLU LAW in 1987, the Student Bar Association has selected Weinberger four times as Faculty Member of the Year.

Community Work and Service

After graduating law school, Alan M. Weinberger spent a dozen years in private practice in Washington, D.C., and Detroit, representing institutional lenders, real estate developers, commercial landlords and foreign investors. 

In addition to his scholarship and teaching duties, Weinberger has previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and as Associate Dean for Faculty.

Weinberger has been a visiting professor at Washington University School of Law, University of Iowa College of Law, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the University of Osnabrück, Germany and Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany.
