2024 Joyce Huelsmann Outstanding SAC Member Awarded
08/27/2024
Every year, a member of the Staff Advisory Committee (SAC) receives the Joyce Huelsmann Outstanding SAC Member Award.
This year’s winner is Matthew Campbell, director, business operations, from the Doisy College of Health Sciences.
Campbell has been involved with SAC for more 13 years. He has worked in a leadership capacity in these roles: Parking Committee, Board of Trustees – Building and Grounds Committee, HR Compensation Committee (Ad Hoc), Bylaws Committee, Policy Review Committee, and Treasurer/Telecommunications Executive Board Committee.
"Matt has been an integral part of the Advisory Board for the past several years," his nominator said. "His input at planning meetings is thoughtful and wise. He helps our monthly general meetings run smoothly by taking care of all of the AV needs and challenges. At the university level Matt serves on the policy review committee offering the voice of staff to the formation of new policy. Matt brings a respectful attitude to his work and takes his responsibility seriously. Matt fosters the spirit of respect, loyalty and excellence that makes him a joy to work with. Matt embodies all that the Joyce Huelsmann award calls for in a recipient."
The award was established to honor founding SAC member Joyce Huelsmann (SLU staff - 1963-2010) and recognizes a member of the Staff Advisory Committee who has best exhibited the qualities necessary for the type of leadership, service and positive spirit that were a hallmark of Joyce Huelsmann and her involvement at Saint Louis University, and more specifically, the Staff Advisory Committee. Her high moral standards, strong work ethic, and personal commitment to leadership through example, integrity, compassion, and respect for all continue to be a cornerstone of the Staff Advisory Committee.
The Staff Advisory Committee seeks nominations for this award in the spring. The recipients must be an active member of SAC as well as be actively involved in SAC.
