Research Interests
Langan is an internationally known expert in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. She has published several books, the most recent is titled Preparing Nurses for Disaster Management: A Global Perspective. Langan is currently a mentor for the PhD and DNP programs. She was a Principal Investigator (PI) who conducted several studies including HRSA Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (2016-2020) and Increasing Faculty Resources and Student Capacity Through Shared Faculty Expertise by Missouri State Board of Nursing & Missouri Department of Higher Education. She is a co-PI on a US Veterans Administration Study of Hospital Nurse Executives’ Response to Disasters. Langan recently completed a study titled, “Student, Faculty, and Community Practice Partner Collaboration: Measuring APRN, RN, and Nursing Student Confidence to Teach Safety Measures in Disasters and Public Health Emergencies Following an Educational Intervention.
