Become a Preceptor
Each year, alumni and other nurses in practice offer guidance and mentorship by serving as preceptors for the students attending the Â鶹´«Ã½ Valentine School of Nursing.
Preceptors are critical to an outstanding nursing education. Under the guidance of a compassionate, knowledgeable preceptor, an undergraduate or graduate nursing student can effectively synthesize what has been learned in theory, class instruction, or lab, applying procedural and critical thinking lessons and Jesuit teachings to real-world daily nursing practice.
Preceptors play a vital role in preparing our students to be practice-ready women and men for others. To learn more about precepting our students, contact Clinical Resources Coordinator Carolyn Layloff, M.S.N., RN., at carolyn.layloff@slu.edu or 314-977-6653.
