Overview of Distance Education
SLU’s distance education efforts are guided by the Â鶹´«Ã½ Distance Education Office and the Distance Education Committee.
The Distance Education Office (DEO), which includes the chief online learning officer and the distance education manager, reports under the provost and assists in the administration and operation of distance education quality assurance and compliance for the University.
The Distance Education Committee (DEC) is chaired by the chief online learning officer and is composed primarily of faculty representatives of all SLU schools and colleges, with staff from key areas also providing relevant expertise and perspective. In partnership with the University’s academic deans and directors, the committee provides leadership and establishes direction for distance education offerings across the University.
Together, the DEO and DEC develop and execute processes related to distance education quality assurance, alignment with Higher Learning Commission and federal guidelines, and alignment with the University Policy for Distance Education.
The Distance Education Office consists of:
- Debra Rudder Lohe, Ph.D., Associate Provost and Chief Online Learning Officer
- Catherine Cooke, Ph.D., Distance Education Manager
