The Cura program has partnered with Our Community Listens to provide Â鶹´«Ã½ faculty and staff with seats in their three-day workshop.

Our Community Listens is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to developing strong community leaders by expanding their skills to listen, relate, discern and communicate with others. Space is limited for

these sessions and registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Email the learning and development team in Human Resources at training@slu.edu to indicate your interest in participating in the program. Sessions run October 16-18 and November 13-15, 2019.

You’re invited to engage in a three-day transformational learning experience that improves the way you connect with others.  Discover your voice, learn why everybody matters, and start with listening. Deepen your relationships with others through purposeful and intentional communication skills training.

Through a unique combination of classroom instruction, experiential activity and group discussion, you will:

  • Explore how the communication cycle forms the foundation of all interpersonal communication.
  • Appreciate the impact nonverbal behavior has on our verbal communication.
  • Learn how the skill of listening can be the most important thing you can do for others.
  • Recognize a more effective way to confront others when needing a change in behavior.

Participants will learn to understand their unique communication style and understand how to flex their communication for the comfort of others.  This allows an individual to appreciate the diverse contributions others bring to our lives and leadership. This program is a continuous learning journey designed to invite you to make significant changes in your behavior, in your relationships and in the way you lead.
