Bivalent COVID-19 Vaccines Available on Campus Soon

September 7, 2022

Dear members of the SLU community,

Bivalent versions (i.e., updated boosters) of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available as early as next week. Bivalent vaccines will provide coverage for both the ancestral strain of SARS-CoV-2, as well as the currently circulating Omicron strains,BA.4 and BA.5.

At this time, we are highly recommending that all eligible community members obtain a bivalent booster dose. Those eligible to receive the bivalent booster dose include anyone at least 12 years old who completed any FDA- approved or FDA-authorized primary vaccination series or received their last monovalent booster dose at least two months ago.

Our campus vaccination team has obtained bivalent vaccine doses and will have them available at our vaccination clinic on Tuesday, September 13, in the Simon Recreation Center. Our extraordinary nursing students and faculty will administer doses from noon to 3 p.m. You may register for an appointment.

Bivalent vaccines have only been approved for booster doses at this time. If you need the primary vaccination series, first and second doses are available through our campus vaccination clinics. You may register for an appointment to receive primary series doses of the Moderna, Pfizer, or Novavax vaccines.

Vaccines are also readily available atnear you.

Stay safe and be well.
