Driver’s License, Driving School and State ID Information
It may be to your benefit to have a driver’s license or state-issued ID while you study in the United States.
To apply for a driver's license or state ID, you must:
- Request a letter from the Office of International Services.
It will take 3-5 days to process your letter. Please plan accordingly. Each letter is valid for 30 days from the date of request. Do not request a letter if you are planning to be outside the U.S. for the next 30 days. To request your letter: - Login to the .
- Click on the third tab on the right hand side "Student Request Center." You will see icons for the various requests on the right.
- Click on "Student Letter Requests," answer all questions and submit. We will process your request and respond to you.
- While you are waiting to receive your letter from the Office of International Services, begin to gather all . Locate your immigration status to learn what additional documentation is required.
- If you do not have a Social Security number, you must contact the Social Security Administration to get an exemption letter.
