COVID-19 Update March 16

Dear members of the Â鶹´«Ã½ community,

Out of an abundance of caution, the University has decided to close Wuller Hall, effective immediately, until further notice. Wuller Hall is not a residence hall, but rather a campus office building.

We were notified early this morning of a Wuller Hall employee who has been tested for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and we want to be as thoughtful and thorough as possible while we await those results.

At this time, there are stillno confirmed casesof COVID-19 at SLU.

We are taking extra, precautionary steps to ensure the safety of our community members.

Students can and should continue to use the resources available to them that would normally be in Wuller Hall, but should do so remotely. We ask for your patience this morning as we work to forward office phone lines. (Until phones are forwarded, you should be able to leave a voicemail message.)Staff in these departments are available.

Move-out: The move-out process continues today through the coming weekend, barring potential domestic travel restrictions. We recognize that a decision to close a campus building might cause additional anxiety for our community as we bring families to campus for move-out.

We continue to engage with our public health experts to assess the safety of our community and visitors, and we continue to enact community health processes within residential buildings during the move-out process. If these experts develop concerns about our current move-out process, we would certainly change course. However, our current procedures are appropriate.

Those with concerns can and should contact Housing and Residence Life (314-977-2811 orreslife@slu.edu) for more information about accommodations.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support. Expect more communications from me today about how we will proceed as a University with events and social gatherings in accordance with the latest Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance. Please continue to monitorSLU’s COVID-19 webpagefor more information.

Sincerely,

Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D.
President
